Customer is a provider of Care Homes for the Elderly
Comvista Networks® were approached to advise on all matters relating to the communcations infrastructure for a ‘new build’ 65 bed care home being built at a greenfield site in Kincardineshire.
Initial Planning
At the initial planning meeting it was determined that there was no external communications services to the site and that the first task would be to discuss the requirements directly with the customer. Having established the network requirements with the customer our assigned project manager set things in motion with BT Openreach with a statement of needs. This was then followed up with a joint site survey to establish the route for external ducts and cabling. While this activity was being carried out the internal cabling quantities and locations were determined from the drawings.

Comvista Networks® were then contracted to supply in excess of two hundred and forty category six structured cabling outlets within the new build. We were also required to fit and commission all of the internal Wireless Access Points as well as the CCTV Network and cameras, elevator safety lines, and alarm monitoring circuits.

From initial consultation to the full commissioning of the site the project took almost twelve months. The milestones set by the customer were continuously discussed and reviewed at agreed times. Any changes to the requirements were easily identified and implemented throughout the project through these regular reviews. Our internal and external cabling team provided their expertise in conjunction with the build team and worked on site in line with the various stages of development. We were often on hand to suggest alternative ways of cabling to suit the changes to specification as the project moved towards completion.

Capability to Provide a Fully Managed Network Project Delivery
This project demonstrates our capability to provide a fully managed project delivery within set timescales. Our resources can cope comfortably with the challenges faced by our customers when projects of this nature arise. By managing the entire process from drawing stage to project completion we eliminated the need for the customer to become involved with either the external or internal service provision.
Therefore allowing them time to concentrate on running their own business.
The site was fully handed over to the customer in September 2016 following commissioning.
Comvista Networks® will continue our relationship with the customer for a further two years as the contracted provider of all the communications services at this site.
